Plan Your Trip

Booking & Pricing

Is there a minimum number of passengers?

Yes. All flights are based on a two-person minimum. Most prices are quoted one-way, per person, unless otherwise requested.

What is your deposit policy?

Deposits confirm your arrangements and protect us against no-shows. Deposits are non-refundable, but they can be applied as a credit toward a future trip if you legitimately can't make it.

Do you offer a child discount?

Children ages 0–12 fly at half price when these conditions are met:

  • The two-person minimum fare has been met
  • Half price means half weight:
    • Sporting camps: 140 lbs
    • Housekeeping cabins: 150 lbs
    • Camping: 175 lbs

Weight & Gear

What are the weight limits?

We operate within the certified useful load of the aircraft. To make sure of that, these are the per-passenger limits, combining each passenger's body weight and gear:

  • Camping trip: 350 lbs
  • Out-camp trip: 300 lbs
  • Sporting camp trip: 275 lbs

We do average group weights. If a group comes in over the limit, there is an extra charge of $0.90 per pound up to the gross weight of the airplane. Anything beyond that requires an extra flight at our published pricing.

Can I bring an outboard motor?

Yes, you may. There may be an extra charge for motors over 4 horsepower.

What should I bring to an out-camp?

Our out-camps are very well outfitted. You only need to bring personal items, sporting gear (fly rod, flies, etc.), food, a sleeping bag, and drinking water.

What should I bring on a camping trip?

Pack light. Some of the remote ponds and rivers we fly to are small, and the aircraft's performance depends directly on how much weight it carries.

A fly-in camping trip isn't the same as heading for the woods with a pickup full of the latest campground gadgets. Our 350-pound limit per person is generous and set for your convenience and safety, but you do need to plan a little.

Should I hire a guide?

If you're new to the area, we recommend one. Guides are fun, and they'll save you a great deal of time learning your chosen area.

On the Day of Your Flight

What about weather delays?

They do happen, though we have a 95% on-time dispatch rate. If weather delays flights, customers are flown in the order they were scheduled.

What if I'm late for my flight?

Unlike with the airlines, you're not out of luck. In fairness to our other customers, though, we reserve the right to put you at the end of the line. If you're running late, give us a call and we'll reschedule you.

What am I responsible for once I'm dropped off?

A fly-in camping trip is a unique experience, like stepping into the past. You leave the roads behind for country that looks much like it did centuries ago. With that freedom comes responsibility: once our pilot drops you off, you're responsible for everything until we pick you up. That covers equipment that fails, running out of food, staying dry when it rains, and any injury. There's no room service out there, and there are no refunds for equipment problems or situations that come up in the woods. The good news is that when you have a great time, you're responsible for that too.

If that sounds like more than you're looking for, consider one of Maine's fine sporting camps, where there is room service. We fly to the best of them and are happy to share information.

  3. In Millinocket, follow the Baxter State Park signs (or the Scenic Byway signs) for about 8 miles.
